Blind Wine Tasting: 29 Wines From Mendoza and Rio Negro
The Anuva Team got together Thursday for a blind tasting of 29 samples from all over Mendoza and Rio Negro. As always, the system is very scientific. Our team of sommelier and wine experts along with selected wine professionals, who change every time, rate all of the wines in the wine tasting on a 100 point scale. Then all of the scores are averaged to find out the best wines of the tasting.
We taste blind, rate, and tally because this is one of the best ways to ensure that we are always picking great wines. To date, we have tasted over 2000 wines to select the 45 that we have imported into the U.S. This is about a 2 percent success rate.
From this wine tasting, we found an excellent Pinot Noir from Rio Negro made by a British-Argentine team of vineyard owners. The other gem was a malbec of incredible value, one that will retail at about 6.99 dollars in the U.S. or 19-20 pesos in Argentina. Ironically this wine almost won the wine tasting even though it has such a low price.
We are looking forward to sharing these wines with you soon!
