I've heard good things about Las Perdices. Haven't had the chance to taste one yet, but will try to source it out here in California. I researched the Don Juan Reserva Blend and it looks delicious! Malbec 70%/Syrah 11%/Bonarda 10%/Merlot 9%.

The marriage between Malbec and Bonarda is always phenomenal.

Salud!!

Very true: "that some of the very best wines that this country produces do not come from Norton, Chandon, or Zapata" That is the mission of company. To find those wineries that have a non-massive production philosophy but still have the means to support an exportation program. Just like the wines you carry in your wine club. That is the next level Argentina will reach in the coming years. So maybe yes, 2009 can probably have a wine you carry in the Top 100. We'll see.

Salud!

Hi Daniel,

You are right about the wineries not being setup for tourism! We pulled into Colome' behind a private tour and surprised the staff. Not wanting to turn us away, they organized a small private tasting for us on the spot! We in California can learn from this kind of hospitality.

The wines at Colome' were of high quality, as were a lot of those we sampled in the Cafayate region.

At Yacochuya the wife of the owner organized a special dinner and tasting for us at it was Neena's birthday. Another fine day in the Cafayate wine country.

Overall I would say Colome' and Yacochuya were our favorites, followed by Finca Las Nubes, Nanni, El Transito and Bodega F. An honorable mention goes to the small coop of Trasoles for producing good wine at decent prices.

Great experience, would highly recommend a visit here!

A great evening. Delicious wines and good company. Don't forget Paul. He, too, was an important element last night. And I have a new club to go with my others....a wine club. Have a good trip!

Hey Shreesh! Thanks for the comment. I'd say that most of the small wineries in Salta are difficult to visit as they are very hard to find and not set up for tourists. The ones who are are Bodegas Nanni (organic), Yacochuya, and Colomé. Let me know what you think of your visits and the wines.
